Since 2001, ATS has been providing Sacramento RT with on-call noise and vibration consulting services as part
of a General Engineering Support Services contract. Tasks have included:
- Analyzing the potential for LRT vibration to damage historic buildings.
- Calculating the sound level increase caused by reflections off a
sound wall will affect sound levels on the opposite side of the street.
- Noise testing of new CAF vehicles recently delivered to Sacramento RT.
- Determining sound level changes after rail grinding.
- Recommending ways to improve residential sound insulation and reduce levels of building vibration.
|
|
- Developing a noise mitigation approach for grade crossing bells. This task included reviewing seven days
of video tapes to develop statistics on the number of pedestrians using the crossing and the percentage that
exhibited any type of risky behavior related to the crossing and the approaching trains. This information
will be used to develop a “demonstration project” to test alternative pedestrian safety measures and verify
that pedestrian risky behavior is unchanged or reduced with the alternative measures.
ATS brings to this project the ability to respond to virtually any RT request for noise and vibration analysis
and to provide RT with high quality, professional reports that fully document the analysis and conclusions of the study.
